Vintage pottery nesting house for birds. The pottery is salt glazed and measures 7 3/4” tall, 6” wide at widest part of body, 3” across top opening, 3 1/2” across bottom. The mother fills her nesting house with natural earth materials to lay her eggs and sit on them to hatch.
The pitcher-style handle is where the nesting house attaches to a surface with a wooden piece inserted into the hole in top of handle and into the hole in the body. The opening in the bottom is where the mother enters to sit on her eggs. The opening across the top is set against a tree or other strong surface with the wooden support to hold.
