Pair of antique vintage beer steins. Both stamped Western Germany. Both from AJ (Albert Jacob) Thewalt.
The taller one ("12"x6") is style #1202, "Tyrolean Couple." It has two phrases: "I hab di gar so gern" (I am fond of you, or I like you) and "I mag di leiden" (I love you, or you are dear to me). Vibrant colors and lovely depiction of a couple, a little house and a moose in the mountains. The handle is carved like a large branch of a tree. This is a SHELF PIECE, as there is a large crack around the base (see photos).
The smaller (7"x5") is style #1187, "Beer Garden Scene." It's in near perfect condition without any chips or cracks. It is rounded, also depicting a couple and some floral designs. Handle is carved with a beaded/braided design. Both steins have hinged connical lids.
